Leighton Contractors was the Managing Contractor for the design and construction of the Queensland University of Technology’s $230m Science and Technology’s Precinct and Community Hub Project at the Gardens Point Campus.
Leighton chose QR Contracting as their concrete place delivery specialist based on our history of success in the area of major public infrastructure such as the RBH Central Block, Lang Park Redevelopment, Millennium Arts\State Library Precinct and many other such projects.
Located adjacent to the historic Old Government House, the new precinct involved the dramatic redevelopment of the university Garden’s Point campus and is a living showcase of sustainable building and design and construction.
QR Contracting is immensely proud to be associated with such a prestigious learning precinct and we congratulate Leighton Contractors for delivering this first class facility.

"The concrete pavements are designed for 120 ton wheel loads. Needless to say, quality, best practice and attention to detail were extremely important.
QR Contracting’s commitment to planning, coordination and communication went a long way to ensuring that the project was delivered as required and that all objectives were either met or exceeded."
The Caterpillar warehouse was approx. 55,000 square metre (33 separate pours) under roof including 11 loading bays and a separate chemical store of 2000m under roof. The concrete used was all fibrecrete (integrated onsite), other than the loading bays and surrounds which were conventional.
Despite many hurdles our site team managed to provide a quality finish and great FF/FL results. Further to the excellent results, QRC also successfully avoided any LTI’s for the entire project.
